“Live”: Housing

Chatham Square

Chatham Square

Housing is provided for CP participants, though a participant can seek an exception to live off-property if there are special circumstances.  There are three apartment complexes for CPs (Vista Way, Chatham Square, and Patterson Court) and one for students participating in the International Program (The Commons).  Unfortunately, CPs do pay rent, which is automatically deducted from each paycheck.  The apartments have 1-4 bedrooms, with two CPs to a bedroom.

The apartments are furnished, utilities are included, and each complex has a gym, pool, and 24-hour security.  A bus system is provided (free for CPs) to take CPs to work as well as other stops in the area, including the grocery store.

Vista Way: The oldest of the three complexes, Vista  has a reputation for being the social center of the CP.  It also has, in my opinion, the best location–there’s a Walgreens, Chick-fil-a, and Wendy’s within walking distance.

Chatham Square: The middle sibling of the three complexes.  This is where I stayed, and so it’s the one that I know the most about.  Our 3-bedroom apartment had a bathroom in each bedroom, which was very nice, and, although it wasn’t exactly new old, it was spacious and clean.  These apartments are set back a little bit off of the main road, and so there really aren’t any restaurants or stores within walking distance.  Although the area isn’t as convenient as Vista, I think it’s a lot prettier.

Patterson Court: Patterson is the newest complex, and also the only one without its own bus stop.  Residents must take a short walk over to Chatham to catch a bus.  Like Chatham, there’s not much within walking distance.

    • Yay! Congrats! I still haven’t been inside a Patterson apartment, but I hear they’re nice. The only problem I see with them is the lack of a bus stop. Otherwise, I hear they’re great. Their grounds are definitely really pretty!
